After learning that the Northglenn Police Department had not had a formal awards banquet in the previous six years due to funding issues, a small team of volunteers went into action.
The ideas for the banquet started on a restaurant napkin and turned into a regularly scheduled and city funded event for the police officers, their families, and volunteers. The turnaround time from the initial brainstorming phase to event execution was only four months. The planning team secured $18,200 in funding for the three biennial events. Nearly 500 people were able to enjoy these awards celebrations.Â
